Why is Dardenne Presbyterian Church commemorating the 500th anniversary of the Reformation? The Reformation was one of the most significant events in world history. The motives for the Reformation extended beyond theological disputes and Biblical interpretation. The movement initiated major political, economic, governmental, and ecclesiastical changes. Without it, the present global society would look completely different. If we want to understand the Church and world today, we must understand the Reformation: its issues, actors, and messages.

Numerous features of 21st century life bear similarity to the Sixteenth century Reformation period: economic instability, distrust of politics and politicians, disorientation of many young people, host of marital and family issues, and a growing disinterest in Christianity coupled with an increase in “spirituality.” Could it be those same issues are the catalyst for another Reformation period? Is God working through human affairs and problems to bring a revival of faith and Christ’s Church? It wouldn’t be the first time – nor the last!

The past few Sundays at DPC have been engaged in a series of sermons on “The Five Principles of the Reformation.” Our study and celebration of the Reformation climaxes on October 28th and 29th with the following events:
